H I S T O R Y
Marcello Cilea was born in Viborg on the 24th of May in 1983. Marcello is half-Italian from his father’s side and half-Danish from his mother’s side. Ever since he was a child he has had a huge interest in creative design, which started with his first Lego constructions through to his later and more serious projects. It has always been clear to Marcello that he wanted to live of his ideas. At the age of 17 he decided to do something more with his creative skills and took a course in technological design. He graduated with a first class degree and was ready to live of his passion. The only problem was to find out where he should start and what he should design. Shortly after his graduation his mother developed breast cancer, which put his whole creative work on hold. For 3 years Marcello and his family fought a tragic fight of life and death that came to an end in May 2006. Music has always been a good tool for grieving. A good song and a couple of high quality loudspeakers can always take you away from the toils of the world and put one’s soul to ease. When Marcello was back on track he decided to design a loudspeaker free from compromise that would sound so clear and balanced that it would make you forget your surroundings. With a little help from few of Denmark’s finest sound experts, Marcello designed this unique loudspeaker, which in memory of his mother has got her name “Marian”. The company Cilea was founded in May 2008.
